Holidays in Taormina - Beaches in Taormina - Best beaches Taormina - Isola Bella Taormina

Taormina is known as the pearl of the Ionian, thanks to its strategic position combining irresistible marine charm with breath-taking views. Located between Catania and Messina, the town rises on Monte Tauro and dominates an extensive coastline lapped by the Mediterranean Sea.

This is why some of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily are located in Taormina and its surroundings. They are all easily reachable in a few minutes, thanks to the cableway connecting to Mazzarò. If you are dreaming of a seaside holiday, as a couple or as a family, Taormina is the right place for you and the Hotel Bel Soggiorno is the ideal choice.

Isola Bella

Isola Bella beach is the most photographed in Sicily, thanks to its unique shape and magical atmosphere. Housed in the centre of the bay between Capo Taormina and Capo Sant'Andrea, Isola Bella resembles a splendid botanical garden lapped by the waters. Covered by dense Mediterranean scrub, it is the fruit of the passion for gardening of the noblewoman Lady Travelyan, once the owner of the atoll.

The beach is accessible via a climb of 100 steps, which open onto an expanse of gravel and pebbles mirroring on an uncontaminated sea. You can choose between the beach clubs equipped with deck chairs and umbrellas or the stretch of free beach, always crowded by the inhabitants of Taormina on summer days. To fully enjoy this paradise, find the small beach at the base of Isola Bella, reachable by wading an isthmus of land wet by the waters.

Mazzarò is probably the favourite beach of the inhabitants of Taormina, thanks also to its proximity to the town. It is a small bay set between two rocky promontories and covered with gravel and sand. The sparkling and clean sea reveals shallow and pebbly bottoms, perfect for a holiday with children in Sicily. Mazzarò beach also hides marine ravines and grottos that seem designed for snorkelling lovers.

Alongside relax and unforgettable swims, this strip of coast is full of restaurants, beach clubs and elegant night clubs. Despite the many equipped beaches, Mazzarò boasts large stretches of free beach, coveted by Sicilians and tourists.

This beach, intimate and covered with gravel, is located close to Capo Taormina and not far from the train station. Despite the limited surface area, Villagonia overlooks a wonderful sea, most appreciated to land sailboats, motorboats and yachts. The proximity to Taormina makes it one of the most popular beaches in the area, from morning to evening, when the many nightclubs and discos nearby come alive. Despite its popularity, Villagonia beach retains a wild and authentic soul, with few services and one of the most envied sea in Sicily.

Giardini Naxos

If you prefer fine sand to gravel and pebbles, the beach of Giardini Naxos is an unmissable stop on your holiday in Taormina. It is in fact the only sandy one in the area, very large and equipped with facilities for carefree days on the beach. You can choose between free beaches and bathing establishments with bars, restaurants and rental of sunbeds and umbrellas. The shallow and sandy bottom of the Ionian Sea makes Giardini Naxos safe and fun even for families with children.

One of the most fascinating and intimate points is in the southernmost part of the gulf, towards Capo Schisò, where there is also a lovely tourist port. Another peculiarity of Giardini Naxos is the amazing view of Castelmola and Taormina.

Among the beaches of Taormina, Spisone is probably the quietest, furthest away from the city centre, with a longer stretch of free beach and fewer beach clubs. In short, a guarantee of peace and relaxation with a sea view! The landscape here is divided into two different scenarios: to the south, towards Capo Mazzarò, rocks overlooking the blue alternate with enchanting views, to the north an extensive carpet of sand unwinds, caressed by a clear and smooth sea. It is up to you to choose the type of holiday you dream of, in any case the Spisone beach will not disappoint you.

What our guests say…

The building is beautiful,

our room was spacious and very clean and included a terrace with a spectacular view of the sea. We really appreciated the polite staff who just spoiled us at every request. The location is great, you can get to the center of town by foot and you can get a shuttle to the beach.
