Novara di Sicilia, from 9th of January to 16th of February XXII° tournament of the maiorchino (typical local cheese) during the Carnival’s period, beginning the 9th of January 2010, every Saturday and Sunday from hrs. 15.00, organised by the local association “Circolo Sportivo Olimpia”. The tournament takes place on its traditional routes from Via Duomo until Via Bellini and Piano Don Michele. Sunday the 14th of February at hrs. 15.00 final ending of the tournament. At hrs. 17.00 awarding ceremony with tasting of local cheeses and ricotta cheese, local wines and other typical products. In the end, the bi traditional pasta meal, prepared with sausage sauce and topped by a waterfall of maiorchino cheese. Monday the 15th of February at hrs. 15.00, female tournament takes place, and a sportive competition for tourists is held. Tuesday the 16th of February, final awarding of of the female tournament and the sportive competition. At hrs 18.00, big pasta meal in the square Bertolami with bread, wine and maiorchino cheese.

Ustica, 1st of June: beginning of the International Review of Underwater Activities. Palermo, from the 10 to the 15 of July occurs the feast of Santa Rosalia (Patron Saint). This is the 386th years since 1624 that the inhabitants of Palermo take their Saint in the procession through the city in order to avoid the spread of the plague. Thanks to that, the disease miraculously stopped. From then every year the whole city celebrate the Saint with lights, music and folklore for 5 days.

Syracuse, November 30th and January 6th : “Lucia from Sweden and the Swedish week”. Syracuse and Stockholm , 2 cities at the edge of Europe come together to celebrate Santa Lucia. Every December a group of representatives from Syracuse travel to Stockholm to participate at the election of Santa Lucia and then a Swedish group comes to visit Sicily.
